It looks like the wrath of Lord Ayyappa has befallen up on the ruling government in Kerala - LDF

Ever since the ruling government in Kerala - LDF has messed with the tradition of Sabarimala - disallowing girls and women in the 10-50 age groups from entering the Sabarimala temple after the verdict of the Supreme Court of India - there has been a series of political issues and image problems. 

On the ground of the violation of the fundamental right to equality (Articles 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 of the constitution) and worship (Article 25), The Supreme Court abolished the rule that disallowed girls and women in the 10-50 age groups from entering the Sabarimala temple. Women devotees of menstruating age were not permitted to worship there, this ban being said to be out of respect to the celibate nature of the deity in this temple.

Initially BJP, UDF and LDF welcomed the Supreme Court Verdict but later sensing the mood of the majority of the traditional Hindu Communities, BJP and UDF stood by women and men, who wanted to go by the tradition.

The ruling LDF government never seemed to be bothered about implementing the verdicts of Supreme Court before, like nurses working in private hospitals in Kerala should be paid a basic salary of Rs. 20000 and liquor vendors within 500 meters of national and state highways would have to shut from 1 April, 2017. Whereas, in the Sabarimala verdict LDF all on a sudden wanted to uphold the fundamental right to equality and worship for women. The LDF government challenged the belief system and smuggled Kanaka Durga, 39, and 40-year-old Bindu Ammini to the hilltop shrine making them the first women below 50 years of age to enter the temple in several decades.

Why a party rooted in atheism should indulge this assiduously in religion and its belief systems is beyond grasp. How can a party rooted in Marxist and Leninist doctrines that advocates atheism get the undercurrents of religion and its belief systems?

The major hit of misfortune after the Sabarimala controversy started with the Parliament Election result where LDF got just 1 seat out of 20 Lok Sabha Constituencies. At Anthoor in Kannur, Sajan Parayil an NRI businessman committed suicide being allegedly fed up with the way he was treated by the Anthoor Municipality chairperson PK Shymala, who is the wife of senior CPI (M) leader M.V. Govindan. A case was registered against Binoy Kodiyeri, son of Communist Party of India (Marxist) State Secretary Balakrishnan Kodiyeri for rape and cheating on a complaint registered by a Mumbai resident. Custodial death of Rajkumar, a 49-year-old man from Nedumkandam, Idukki in Kerala, who was kept in illegal detention for up to 4 days before being produced in court. Most recently, a clash between students at University College, Trivandrum took a violent turn when members of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) clashed among themselves and one student ended up being fatally stabbed in the chest.

Now it looks like the only solution left for the political survival of the LDF is the reconciliation with Lord Ayyappa and pleading for His forgiveness for having broken the tradition of Sabarimala. All the leaders better take up the 41-day long fasting and climb Sabarimala Shrine to worship Lord Ayyappa in the coming pilgrimage season, thus to ensure a better political well-being in Kerala, only where the party has some amount of hope for survival in all of India.
