At record speed a church is being constructed at Thodupuzha

Thodupuzha/Cheppukulam, December 12, 2013: The construction works of the new St. Thomas Catholic Church at Cheepukkulam are getting completed at record speed. The church which foundation stone was laid on December 18, 2012 will be blessed on December 18, 2013.

The foundation stone of the new church, that falls under the Episcopal jurisdiction of Kothamanglam Diocese, was laid by the then Bishop of Kothamangalam Diocese, His Excellency Mar George Punnakottil on December 18, 2012 and exactly 1 year after the commencement of the work, the church will be blessed by the new Bishop of Kothamangalam Diocese, His Excellency Mar George Madathikandathil on December 18, 2013 at 2.30pm.

Rev. Dr. Geo Thadikkatt was appointed as the Parish Priest of St. Thomas Church Cheepukulam with the herculean mission of constructing the new church demolishing the dilapidated church. All the credits must go to Rev. Dr. Geo Thadikkatt, considering the amount of effort he has been putting in; from fund raising, demolishing the dilapidated church to constructing a new one in such a hilly terrain needs meticulous planning and engineering thus, Rev. Dr. Geo Thadikkatt is a synonym for constructing church at a record speed.

The total built-up area of the church is 7000 sq. ft and there are over 230 families in the parish. The construction of the church and the related construction works cost over 1.50 cores. Right from the commencement of the work, there have been constant financial support and good will of the parishioners without which parish priest would not have completed the work at record speed. Over 4,000 public works of the parishioners were very instrumental for the church construction.
