"Don't be tensed" wish - keeps you tensed actually

Prior to major milestones in life like examination, final match, driving test or delivery, generally people wish their dear and near one with Best Wishes, Good Luck or Prayers to boost their morale so that they would achieve the target with ease.

But when it comes to such wishing Malayalis act very peculiar and that is deep there in their DNA. Instead of wishing Best Wishes, Good Luck or Prayers of the heart, typical Malayalis would say "Don't be tensed," and "Hope you are not scared."

These kinds of wishes can only cause damage instead of something good. The mind and heart which are otherwise devoid of any fear or tension will only be instilled with fear and tension. This would create a negative mind set in the person, and the person would start thinking it is going to be something dangerous or odd things are bound to happen. The person who has otherwise positively prepared for the life event would be filled with anxiety, fear and tension.

Perhaps, Malayali would be exchanging  wishes such as "Don't be tensed," and "Hope you are not scared" with the right motive as a means of consoling or an attempt to be in the shoes of the person. But ironically it would only create negative ripples.

It is high-time that Malayalis learn after the examples and etiquette of English men and wish people who venture into new spaces of life positively - All the Very Best, Best Wishes, Prayers of the heart shall be with you.
